On the traces of Ernesto Che Guevara

Ernesto "Che" Guevara, the Argentine doctor who became, alongside Fidel Castro, a leader of the Cuban Revolution (1958/1959), tried in late 1966 to bring that revolutionary model to Bolivia — without success. On October 8, 1967, Bolivian troops captured him in the Churo ravine near La Higuera, and he was executed the following day. Travelers wanting to follow in Guevara's footsteps can take the 3-to-5-day Che Route between Santa Cruz and Sucre (or vice versa), through the breathtaking valleys of central Bolivia, visiting the sites of his capture and execution (La Higuera) and his burial (Vallegrande).
