Trinidad is the capital of the Beni department, surrounded by the magnificent river and wetland landscapes of the Llanos de Moxos. In the Ibaré Nature Reserve you can spot spectacled caimans, howler and capuchin monkeys, sloths and river dolphins; a day trip to Loreto lets you see the endemic blue-throated macaw, and a visit to a working hacienda reveals what it takes to handle its mighty zebu cattle.
