Bolivia / National Park Sajama
Volcanic giants in the National Park Sajama
2-3 days, from La Paz
Volcanoes over 6,000m high, hot springs, steaming geysers, llamas, alpacas and vicuñas: Sajama National Park is one of Bolivia's most spectacular regions.
A trip to Sajama pairs well with a visit to the colonial church of Curahuara de Carangas (the "Sistine Chapel of the Altiplano"), a continuation to the Salar de Uyuni past the colorful Inca-era burial towers (chullpas) of Macaya, or a return route via Comanche, home to the Puya Raimondii — the world's largest bromeliad species, found only in Peru and Bolivia.
