For centuries, the famous Cerro Rico yielded such vast quantities of silver and tin that Potosí was, for a long time, one of the richest cities in the world. Its many colonial buildings, churches and monasteries bear witness to that glittering past. The most famous museum is the Casa de la Moneda, the former royal mint.
