Machu Picchu-Trek (Cordillera Vilcabamba)
«The Inca Trail», km 82 – Machu Picchu, 4 days, 6-7h per day, 2,500m – 4,200m, April – November
There are thousands of kilometers of Inca trails across the Andes, yet none is as famous — or as heavily walked — as "the Inca Trail," running from the Río Urubamba valley (at km 82) past the ruins of Runkuracay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca, Huiñay Huayna and Intipunku all the way to Machu Picchu. If you don't have that much time but still want to walk part of this route, you can instead get off the train at km 104 and hike to Machu Picchu in a single day via Huiñay Huayna and Intipunku (with a full visit to Machu Picchu itself the following day).
