From the 15th century b.c. to the 12th century a.c. Tiwanaku was one of the dominating cultures in the center of South America. Just before the Incas arrived it disappeared in a mysterious way. You can see the ruins of the ceremonial center with the Akapana pyramid, the Kalasasaya temple and the sun gate as well as a museum with excavation finds.
Vom 15. Jhdt. v. Chr. bis ins 12. Jhdt. n. Chr. war Tiwanaku eine der bestimmenden Kulturen im Zentrum Südamerikas. Erst kurz bevor die Inkas erschienen, verschwand sie auf geheimnisvolle Weise. Zu sehen sind die Ruinen des zeremoniellen Zentrums mit der Akapana-Pyramide, dem Kalasasaya-Tempel und dem Sonnentor sowie ein Museum mit Ausgrabungsfunden.
