In einem der weltweit größten Nationalparks sind auf einer Fläche von mehr als 1,7 Mio ha mehr als 800 Vogel-, 200 Säugetier-, unzählige Insekten- und Reptilien- sowie über 2.000 Pflanzenarten – einige davon endemisch – zu Hause. Der Urwald im Manu Nationalpark ist außerdem Heimat indigener Stämme. Ebenso schön, aber weniger bekannt ist das Naturreservat Tambopata im Südwesten von Puerto Maldonado.
The National Park Manu with its 1.7 Mio ha is one of the biggest in the world. There are more than 800 species of birds, 200 species of mammals, numerous insects and reptiles as well as about 2.000 species of plants – some of them endemic. The National Park Manu also is the homeland of indigenous tribes. Equally beautiful but less famous is the Nature Reserve Tambopata in the South West of Puerto Maldonado.
