Bevor 1534 Diego de Almagro an der Mündung des Río Moche Trujillo (Heimatstadt Pizarros in Spanien) gründete, hatten hier bereits die Moche (von etwa 100 n.Chr. bis 700 n.Chr.) und die Chimú (etwa 750 n.Chr. bis 1470) aus Lehmziegeln große Stadtanlagen, Pyramiden und Paläste gebaut. Die Huaca del Sol der Moche war ursprünglich die größte Pyramide Amerikas, Chan Chan (aus der Chimú-Kultur) mit einer Ausdehnung von über 20qkm und etwa 80.000 Einwohnern die größte Lehmziegelstadt der Welt.
Before Diego de Almagro founded Trujillo (Pizarro’s hometown in Spain) in 1534 on the water mouth of the River Moche the Moche (approx. 100 AD until 700 AD) an the Chimú (approx. 750 AD until 1470 AD) had built big cities, pyramids and palaces of adobe. The Huaca del Sol of the Moche originally was the biggest pyramid of America, Chan Chan of the Chimú with an extension of about 20sqm and 80.000 inhabitants the biggest city of adobe in the world.
